I started the year off with a challenge. I joined a group of artists online who were doing a painting a day for the month of January. The goal was to complete 30 paintings in one month. I didn’t complete all 30; I completed 23 paintings and learned a lot about my process.
It was important to focus on one theme or concept (landscape compositions in this case) so I wouldn’t spend too much time deciding what to paint next; I could focus on the next image more easily.
It was really difficult to complete one painting in one day because I prefer paint in layers. (That means drying time is needed in-between.) I averaged 2 paintings in 2 days. I learned to keep more than one painting going at a time and that way I could keep on schedule to complete a painting a day.
